Black History Month

The Black Student Union put on its first Black History month event in over a year this past February. The event entitled: A Piece of Black History, consisted of students lining the first floor hall of Jamrich reading off short information cards about key historical and current black figures in society. Our goal was to spread awareness about important people who weren't as well known as figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. We received a great amount of positive feedback from our peers regarding this event and even got some public recognition from a couple local news stations. At the annual Leadership Banquet, we won the Diversity Program/Project of the Year! We were so excited that our hard work was recognized in a positive way and are ready to wow our campus next year with what we have planned.
